Das Verfahren zur Herstellung des Resonanzkörpers von Streichinstrumenten, insbesondere einer Geige, besteht darin, daß dem Resonanzkörper durch Ausbildung der oberen und unteren Platte in Form eines in entgegengesetzter Richtung zu der durch den Saitenaufzug hervorgerufenen Biegetendenz und durch elastische Gestaltung der Seiten des Bundes eine Vorspannung verliehen wird, wobei nach dem elastischen Vorbiegen der Seiten an diese die Leisten angeklebt, danach elastisch der Bund der Seiten bis in die Endgestalt geformt, anschließend der Bund der Seiten mit der in Form eines Bogens mit nach bekanntem Verfahren eingeklebten Baßbalken gestalteten oberen Platte verklebt und schließlich der Resonanzkörper durch die bogenförmige untere Platte abgeschlossen wird. Das Gerät zum Formen des Bundes der Seiten eines derartigen Resonanzkörpers besteht aus einem Ovalring (1) mit mindestens vier in den Achsen des Ringes (1) angeordneten Löchern (2). Das bekannte und allgemein angewandte Verfahren zum Bau einer Geige und anderer Streichinstrumente besteht im Anpassen sämtlicher Elemente bei deren Montage mit Ausnahme des Zusammenklebens des Bassbalkens mit der oberen Platte, wo die Spannungen eingeführt bzw. die Vorspannungen erzeugt werden. Beim Formen wird in der Regel eine Aussen- oder Innenform angewandt. Nach dem Verkleben der beiden Elemente wird die obere Platte durch den Bund der Saiten mit den Leisten gestreckt.
