The picture showed Katie Piper, dressed casually in jeans and a dark grey t-shirt, crouched down in a brightly coloured play area.

Little Belle, looking chic in a teeny-weeny cardigan and pink leggings, can be seen gazing up into her loving mum's face as the pair enjoy the fun of the ball pit together.

Katie captioned the candid snap simply: "In the ball pit with my bear."

N'aww.

But, while most responded positively to the cute new photo, some people felt the need to slam the campaigner for never showing her daughter's face.

One wrote scathingly: "Why do you never show her face?

"She doesn't - look through her pictures. It's always the back of her head."

But plenty of Katie's fans were quick to leap to her defence, with one writing: "I'm pretty sure it's for the safety of her baby and fiancé. Don't think she wants them in the limelight or to be hassled.

"I'd want the same if I was a little bit famous!"

Another added: "I think because Katie was the victim of a violent crime she doesn't want people to see what her child or fiancé look like."

Irritated by the flood of support for Katie, who was was left scarred by a horrific acid attack organised by a violent ex-boyfriend in 2008, the critic was forced to admit defeat.

"Right, calm yourself - only asked a question!"

The former model, who underwent hundreds of operations to rebuild her face, recently revealed that she feels uneasy about strangers being around her little girl.

Katie explained: "When Belle was born people tweeted terrible things like 'she's as ugly as her mum', and I don't want her to have that when she goes to school.

"When strangers approach me for a picture or a chat when I'm out with her, I get nervous because of the attack.

"I try hard not to show it, as I don't want Belle to be affected by my anxiety over something from the past.

"But it's definitely made me more protective."
