Former AC Milan and Lazio forward Paoli Di Canio has said that Inter remains the best team in Serie A and are the favourites to win the Scudetto, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Speaking during an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Paolo Di Canio discussed the injury difficulties that hit Napoli and Luciano Spalletti during the season which meant the coach had to change his approach to games.

“Spalletti had a physical team, including Koulibaly, Anguissa and Osimhen, and he had to invent another made up of smaller people like Lobotka and Demme. And yet he managed to keep the chase alive.”

Talking about the Azzurri’s potential path to overturning Inter’s lead, Paolo Di Canio said that they must beat Venezia and the Nerazzurri to get back in with a chance as Inter remains the best team.

“Now they must win these two games with Venezia and Inter, maybe pull out a win and a draw, they will recover some players and things will get interesting. Inter for me remains the best and the favourite, but let’s see.”

Inter are currently four points ahead of Napoli with a game in hand and they will be hoping AC Milan can avoid defeat against Inter on Saturday evening so that the gap can be closed, so long as they beat Venezia at home on the Sunday.
