On 7 hills of Novo Mesto

From Otočec Castle, right up the Krka River, to the village of Otočec, where we turn left (direction Gumberk). Across the wooden bridge and turn right into Žihovo selo. At the fork in the path, turn right and follow the cart track just above the river through the forest to the village of Krka, then to Graben and into the village of Ragovo, where you turn right into the forest of Rago log. We cross the river Krka on the Ragovo bridge.

In the city center of Novo mesto, we ascend towards the Chapter and descend past the Dolenjska Museum. We go to Kandijski most and look back towards the city center: on the left is the famous Breg. On the right, above the cliff, there is a Franciscan monastery. We return to the Kandija bridge and immediately after the bridge and the teahouse we descend to the left to the river Krka and drive along the Zupančič promenade along the Krka right next to the river.

To the left across the river is a villa in front of the hospital, the home of the beautiful Primčeva Julija, the muse of the greatest Slovenian poet. Passing the sports fields under the bridge, we reach Loka (inn, raft) and continue past the railway to Bršljin. A little further on from the train station, keep to the right and cross the main road to get to the scenic Marof hill and to Kette’s tree-lined avenue. From the top we descend to the left to Ločna (Krka pharmaceutical factory) and continue towards Otočec: through the settlement of Lešnica, the village of Otočec by the river Krka to the Otočec Hotels. To Šmarješke Toplice we return to Hotels Otočec
