You'll Need:

  • construction paper
  • multicolor tissue paper
  • transparent contact paper
  • scissors
  • hole punch

1. Create Hearts

Begin by cutting hearts from construction paper (Image 1). The hearts can be as large or small as you wish, so long as the finished size fits onto the transparent contact paper. Next, use a hole punch to create a starting point for removing the center of the heart (Image 2). Cut out the center, leaving about a half-inch border (Images 3 and 4).

2. Cut Tissue Paper

Trim pieces of multicolor tissue paper into small pieces.

3. Attach to Contact Paper

Remove the backing from the transparent contact paper to expose the adhesive side. Lay the contact paper smooth side down on a table, and position the hearts on top. Make sure the contact paper extends around the outside of the heart.

4. Decorate With Tissue Paper

Allow kids to get creative by overlapping pieces of tissue paper inside the heart (Images 1 and 2). The tissue paper will stick to the adhesive side of the contact paper.

5. Attach to Window

Trim excess contact paper from around the edge of the heart, leaving roughly a half-inch overhang. Apply the clings to a clean window and enjoy the light streaming through the transparent tissue paper.
