The 11-year-old boy who shot 12-year-old Ra’Mya Eunice during an April 30 sleepover at a home on Willow Branch Avenue has been charged with manslaughter.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Tyron A. Calhoun, now 12, was arrested Friday at his home in the 2900 block of West 10th Street. Ra’Mya had been brain dead until her death May 25.

She was sleeping on a couch when she was struck by a bullet fired by the 11-year-old, the homeowner’s nephew, in what was described as an accident, according to Times-Union archives.

The homeowner initially said the gun was found in a vacant home nearby. Police said Friday that the gun was found underneath the home where it happened.
