Irina Shayk apparently did not appreciate the rumors about her soon-to-be ex Bradley Cooper and his costar Lady Gaga while they worked on A Star Is Born together. Shocking! We were all there to see Gaga and Cooper perform their duet, “Shallow,” at this year’s Oscars, which had about just about every one of us on the floor, due to romantic passion overload. Imagine what it must have been like to be Shayk sitting in that front row.
“The rumors about Bradley and Gaga having a love affair didn’t help, especially with his constant travels [promoting the film],” says a “source” to People, which means we should take the statement with a grain of salt, although they seem to be stating the obvious. As for whether he and Gaga would actually get together, Cooper “has a huge and overwhelming connection to Gaga, but whether it becomes a real love story in their lives for all the world to see is premature, and it’s difficult to speculate at this sensitive time.”
Yesterday, the outlet reported a similar anonymous statement that Bradley was “emotionally absent” during filming. “They tried to save the relationship but it had changed,” the so-called entertainment source said, which, again, seems fairly self-evident.
Will this be a case of Mr. and Mrs. Smith syndrome, perhaps the most notorious example of costars falling in love on set and home-wrecking shortly thereafter? Only time will tell, but so far Shayk is getting out of dodge, jet-setting almost immediately after the breakup hit the news to Iceland, posting a nature-themed belfie in front of a waterfall.
But lo! There is yet more drama regarding said Instagram photo, which was liked by none other than Gaga’s ex Christian Carino. (Shayk unfollowed Gaga back in February, post-Oscars.) So what would you call the extremely rare instance of the double Mr. and Mrs. Smith, if Carino and Shayk were to seek revenge together? They’re very likely not going to, since Shayk doesn’t even follow Carino, but for now we can track the developments as closely as if they actually mattered.
