This Ford Mustang 1964.5-1966 got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1966 Ford Mustang is a C-code fastback that is powered by a replacement 289ci V8 linked to a three-speed automatic transmission and a 9″ rear axle, and it has been refinished in metallic blue over black. Equipment includes 15″ American Racing wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a modified suspension, subframe connectors, a folding rear seat, a push-button AM radio, aftermarket speakers, and a center console. The current owner acquired the car in November 2017. This Mustang is now offered on dealer consignment with an extra set of wheels with tires and a clean Colorado title.

The color has been changed from Ivy Green (R) to metallic blue, and features include chrome-finished bumpers, quarter louvers, rocker-panel trim, and dual exhaust outlets that terminate under the rear valance. Imperfections in the paint are pictured up close in the gallery below.

Silver and black 15″ American Racing wheels are mounted with 225/60 front and 235/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. Subframe connectors have been welded to the underbody, and the chassis has been modified with tubular front control arms, replacement front springs, a Shelby/Arning drop, KYB shocks, a heavy-duty sway bar, and four-wheel disc brakes. The rear springs recently were replaced.

The interior features black Deluxe-style vinyl upholstery on the seating surfaces, complemented by black carpeting and trim. Speakers have been installed to the doors, and other appointments include a push-button AM radio, a center console, and Mustang-insignia floor mats. The rear seats fold flat.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer flanked by gauges to monitor fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 87k miles, and true mileage is unknown.

The 289ci V8 was replaced at some point under previous ownership. The engine is said to utilize an aftermarket camshaft, a four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a PerTronix ignition coil. A finned Cobra-branded air cleaner and finned valve covers have been installed along with a chrome export brace and a curved Monte Carlo bar. The seller notes that a spot of fluid collected under the car after it was parked for several weeks.

Power is delivered to the wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The 9″ rear end is said to have been built using an aftermarket housing, 35-spline axles, and a Moser center section with 3.73:1 gears. The driveshaft and u-joints were recently replaced along with the fuel tank.

The vehicle warranty number reveals that the car is a 1966 Mustang fastback built at the San Jose, California plant and was equipped with a 289ci V8 and a two-barrel carburetor. The data plate shown above decodes as follows:
